After a month of living in Phnom Penh and eating out almost every day, I decided to do a cooking class to learn the secrets behind those amazing flavours. What are the popular spices, herbs and vegetables in all those curries, soups, noodles, stir-fries and desserts?
I enrolled in a full day Khmer cooking course, and what better way to start than with a visit to the local market, and what a gift for the senses it was. All the different fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, fishes and meat… a delicious array of colours, shapes and scents that would motivate anyone to cook!
